What is Pickleball
Pickleball is an indoor or outdoor racket/paddle sport where two players (singles) or four players (doubles), hit a perforated hollow polymer ball over a 36-inch-high (0.91m) net using solid-faced paddles. Opponents on either side of the net hit the ball back and forth until one side commits an error and loses the point. In 2022, Pickleball was adopted as the official state sport of Washington.
Who invented Pickleball?
Pickleball was invented in 1965 by U.S. businessman and politician Joel Pritchard. Joel and his friends challenged their children to invent a new game. Within no time they had a badminton net lowered to the ground, and they were hitting a wiffle ball back and forth with table tennis paddles. Throughout more iterations they eventually landed on the final accessories which include a thicker and larger paddle and a more durable ball.
